' .WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP. The annual teams championship for the Whyte and MacKay Shield was. riui under the auspices of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealan,d Amateur Athletio Association from Miramar tram terminus oil Saturday afternoon. The weather was all that could have been-desired. The following teams took part:— ■ ■ Olympio Harriers 1 F. J. Byrne/ F. Hodson, F. Burrell, A. Osborne, iff. Drummond, A. M'Cauley. Brooklyn Harriers: N. Cummins, J.Douglas, P. Harvey, G. Hutton, H. Mio, A. Clapham; B team—F. Harliu, J. Molloy, 13. Exfcon, R. Hoverd, C. "Willis,, 0. Cummins. Wellington Harriers: W. Donaldson, C. Fisher, L. Culverwell, C. Turnbull, W. Bennett, F. Eagle; B team—F. Farrington, J. Bennett, M. Carmody, 0; Caddiek, J. Harrison, E. Butler. Scottish Harriers: R. Ballantyne, S. Hall, E. Wolch, H. Rule, R. Waters,, W. Ballantyne. A solid pace was set at. the start and maintained throughout by N. Cummins (Brooklyn), who was never extended during the whole race, winning the individual championship by 100 yards in the splendid time of 27min. 295ec.,. a record for the. course. The next men to finish were: R. Ballantyne (Scottish), G. Hutton (Brooklyn), F. Byrne (Olympic), J: Douglas '(Brooklyn), A. Clapham, and P.. Harvey (Brooklyn). Brooklyn Harriers thus won the shield with 15 points, also winning the individual championship. During the afternoon members of tho Pipe Band rendered some splendid music. The course, which was five miles, was trailed by Messrs. B. Waters and P. Wilton. The officials were as follow -.—Judges, R. A. Wright, 6. Frost, W. H. Bennett, P, Harvey, H. Cummins; starter, Mr. Bennett; timekeepers, \V. Pollock, F. Wilton, \W. Ballantyne.
