PROTEST PROM MINERS

The Domiiston Miners' Union has passed resolutions protesting against the practice of victimisation permitted' on the. waterfronts throughout' New Zealand, and requested the Government to set up a Royal Commission. to make searching inquiries; also protesting against the action of the Coal Miners' Association in refusing to meet representatives of the Coal Miners' Federation to discuss the demand for a 20 pet cent, rise in wages owing to tlio increased, cost of living The union will also forward to the Prime Minister a. protest against the violation of tho Gaming and Lotteries Act in filching _ from the wcrking class money to provide pensions for returned incapacitated soldiers antf dependents,and urging tho Government to provide all moneys required by a graduated land and income tax.
