The Governments of England and France, under whose administration are millions of lives, have come to your assistance in order to assure to you tho prosperity and happiness which is enjoyed by your' ■coreligionists. There is no need to fear. Your honour, lives, and property are safe. - , With the last object in view, the following proclamation has been issued:— 1. The village administration will be. in tho hands of tho village as before. There will bo.no interference with your private affairs. 2. In order that your women may move freely about portion of the marketplace has been set aside for local inhabitants. ' • _. . , _ 3. In order to avoid regrettable incidents sentries will bo placed in the western quarters. -4. Women can go freely to the marketplace from to . _ 5. Nobody must leavo their House between sunsot and sunrise. 6. Those who wish to sell to soldierß must apply to , who will fix the price at which tho goods are to he sold. 7. Whoever has cause for complaint should state his caso to the mukhtar. 8. Any man who attempts to escape from the village or who perpetrates any act of'hostility against tho Allied forces, or who acts i in-a manner contrary to this proclamation, is warned that lie -will be dealt with-in a very sevcro manner.
