The mine superintendent of the Ross Goldflelds, Reconstructed reports as follows on the work done at the mine for tho week ending August s:—No. 2 east drive was extended 32 feet in soft brown nay wash, 4'feet deep. The clay formation intersected in the. south, drives had made its appearance,. and. the drive wn-s now continued along the'boundary of the clftj and wash without materially altering 'it-s
direction. ■ No. 9 north drive, which had been turned into a double blocking .drive, was advanced 14 feet in pay wash 4 feet deep. No. 7 north drive\had continued in pay wash 3 feet deep, and was now out 82 feet. From the end of this drive leading blocking striips had been started, parallel to but 4,feet lower than, No. 6 level,, immediately -ahead. Blocking was proceeding off No. 3 south-west drive, and Nos. 10_and 8 south drives. ; The 'mine superintendent telegraphed yest€.rdiay tliat the gold return was 620z. Udvrt. of gold from 972 truclis.
