WARSAW NOT YET TAKEN
DESPERATE FIGHTING RUSSIANS RETREAT WITHOUT , ■ INTERFERENCE .DASTARDLY TACTICS FLAME ATTACKS 1 IN FLANDERS ONE YEAR OF WAR BELLIGERENTS TAKE STOCK , .The'news from the Eastern, theatre to-day is convincing .in one ' sense, and very open in another. Some of the reports, taken by themselves, leave a clear inference of a Russian evacuation of Warsaw, while at least one message states definitely that .the city' has not yet been evacuated.' Most desperate fighting is going on on the various sections of the long .battle front, and, the Germans at certain points have still further advanced their line. The news from the Western front details a recent German success at Hooge, a success scored entirely' with the aid,of a flam© curtain, behind which the"'valiant" Huns advanced. This is described in ono report as "dastardly, tactics." On the Austro-Italian front the Italians are still forcing the pressure upon tho Austriahs, who havo been obliged to' fall back upon their second line of defences. There is no development of major im-. portance in Gallipoli. Tho pirate wax on tho high seas has accounted for more neutral steamers. ' ' . .. , '
