Whilst hearing applications in Banco at the Supreme Court this morning, His Honour Miv Justice Denniston had delivered to him. a . telegram announcing the death of his nephew, Thomas'Den--niston,; soil of ilr. George Dennistoii, of .Dunediu. The members of the Bar noted, that, after reading the telegram His Hbiiour was, much affected- aud complete silence supervened, and for a brief space His Honour remained with bent head;

The late Mr. Thomas Demiiston was a .'medical" student, who . joined the R.A.M.C., and went to the Dardanelles. He was on his way back to New Zealand to sit for his final examination for his medical'degree, when he was attacked by enteric at Malta., Advice of his serious,'illness was received some days ago, and to-day came news of his death. He ,was. a, very promising youiig man arid very popular. This is the second nephew of Mr. Justice Dennist-on, who has died this month.' Early in the month' news came to hand that Lieut. Guy Melland, son of Edward Melland, formerly and for .many years'.a'resident of Dunedin, had been killed in Flanders; r ljhe late Mr. Holland's wifo was a, daughter of the Hon. Jolm Bathgate, Dunedin, and Mrs. Dcimisron is another daughter.
