The testimony concerning the Eastland disaster, in which an excursion steamer turned turtle causing appalliiis loss of life, points to overloaded gangways as bc-ing the cause. The lower port-holes were not closed; warnings had been given that'certain necessary improvements had been neglected, and the law in other respects had been violated.
