OUR MILITARY CAMPS.
Sir,—l see by your Wednesday's issue that a. permanent military camp is to be established at Tauherenikau. Can you tell me why our young soldiers should be encamped where there is the temptation of a hotel practically at their tent doors? 'Will that help to make them soldiers of ivhom Kitchener will he proud? Are there not other sites in the Wairarapawhere the soil would be equally suitable for a camping ground, such as the Opaki racecourse, or the Solway Showground (there aro a few camped' temporarily at the latter place); also at cither of theso sites the train runs right on to the spot, which must be. a great'saving of trouble and expense of transport. I was junder the impression that the authorities were anxious to place the military camps as far away from hotels as possible, but perhaps I i have been mistaken.—l am, etc., I A MOTHER. I
