At, an early hour yesterday morning the Union Company's Moana arrived ■ in the stream at Wellington from San Francisco, via way ports—well up to time. Subsequently tho vessel berthed at the Queen's Wharf, No. 1 south. Departure-was taken from San Francisco on Juno 23, and arrival made at Papeete on July 4. She left the French island port the same day, and arrived at Rarotonga on July 7. Departure was taken for Wellington on July B.' Fine weather was experienced throughout the passage. The Moana. brought, tho following cargo for New Zealand:—lslo' cases raisins, _60 boxes prunes, 90 sacks coffee, 50 boxes dried fruit, 35 boxes rubber goods, 44 casee paints, 118 kegs lead. 1825 rolls roofing, 483 crates roofing, 100 packages auto-tyres, 35 packages periodicals, 60 barrels oil, 400 cases oranges, 8. barrels printing ink, 130 crates fruit jars, 7298 cases Island oranges, 1826 cases bananas, and large quantity of sundries. The Moana left Wellington last night for Lyttelton, where she will load produce for Sydney. FERRY STEAMER CHANGES. In order to allow . the ferry steamer Wahine to proceed to Port Chalmers for her annual overhaul and inspection changes have been made in the running of steamers employed in tho Wellington-Pict-on-Nelson and Wellington-West Coast services. Leaving Wellington this evening the Warhine will proceed to Lyttelton and Dunodin. and her running will he taken by the Maori. On arrival at Wellington from Lyttelton to-morrow the latter vessel will remain here till Monday evening, when she will leave for the southern port at the usual time. ••Tho Pateena. will take up the Maori' 6 running, leaving Wellington for Lyttelton at 11 p.m. to-morrow. The Arahura has been withdrawn from the West Coast service, and will leave Wellington at 12.45 p.m. on Monday for Picton and Nelson in, place of the Pateena. After having been laid up at Wellington for some time the Mapourika will be recom'missioned in time to take up the Arahura's schedule running to Picton, Nelson, and West Coast ports to-morrow. She will leave Wellington at. 12.45 p.m. CALDERGROYE LEAVES AUCKLAND. Continuing her journey from Philadelphia the Vacuum Oil Company's chartered steamer OaJdergrovc left Auckland for Wellington at 4.30 p.m.' yesterday. Given favourable weather the vessel ehculd make port cither to-morrow evening or Sunday morning. On inquiry at the local office of the company yesterday afternoon a reporter was informed that the Oaldergrovo had/ suffered little or no damage as a result of the small fire which occurred in the forward hold, of the: vessel at. Auckland yc6today morning. STEAMERS DELAYED AT HOME. The Inurapuro, now at Auckland, was delayed some time at London by tho congestion at the docka, having to wait three weeks in the river before sho could berth. Tho officors attribute the congestion largely to tho commandeering. of Thames bargee. A hundred of these latter wero seized in one. day for the purpose of building a pontoon bridge across the fiver at Tilbury. Tho bridge, which is used for t-lie transport of troops and stores, ■ eaves a . long journey up to tho Tower ■ Bridge, which is the lowest bridge spanning the Thames. THE SOMERSET AND OPAWA. Continuing her journey from Liverpool the F. and S. Line's Somerset left' Auckland for Wellington at 5.40 a.m. yesterday. She should show up here to-morrow morning. ' The same company's chartered' steamer Opawa, also from Liverpool, will get away from Auckland for Wellington to-day.' She is due in port on Sunday. KAREMA FROM NEW YORK. The local agents for the A. and A. Line havo been advised that the Bucknall steamer Karcma has been fixed, to leave New York on August 3 for Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, and Adelaide,.via Panama Canal. . MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr.' T. H. Crane has joined the Victoria as purser. . Mr.- A. Forson, third officer of the Maori, has left that vessel. ... '' '■ An expected' arrival at Wellington from San Francisco any time now is the Union Company's Waihemo. She cleared the Califqrnian port on Juue 16. The Union steamer Karao, which arrived at Wellington last evening, will withdraw from the West Coast coal trade in order to be overhauled, and surveyed here. Under charter to tho Union Company the British Imperial Oil Company's 6teamer Pliysa left the Bluff yesterday, produceladen for Sydney. For the purpose of continuing Homeward leading the Shaw-Savill liner Waiwera is oxpected to leave Gisborne to-day for Auckland. Departure will be taken from the northern port for London about Mondaynext. An expected arrival at Wellington from southern' ports on July 24 for Homeward loading is the liner Delphic.
