WELLINGTON SISTERHOOD

r The 'Wellington members of the .Volunser Sisterhood" made their first start, Yesterday'morning. Helpers were called for at the.shortest notice,to prepare the Kiosk at Oriental Bay for the reception of sick and wounded men. The first women to go on duty were Mrs. Denman, Mrs. Parsonage, Miss Tennent, and Miss Rathborn,- and later Miss Muriel Buttle. . The matron expressed her pleasure at the end of itiie day with .the services rendered by all the women. ■ At 7 o'clock this morn•ing any Wellington folk who may be up early enough will have seen four more of the Sisterhood goiiig to work in businesslike stylo, namely, Mrs. Constance, Hawson, Mrs. Mary Waters, i'Miss Grace Mills, aiid Miss Sylvia Wilson. All have signed the Sisterhood's pledge to do whatever work is required, no matter how humble. . Their paysheet shows that cacli is down at 10s. per week. , ''' _•. In Wellington some slight 'modifications of the scheme have had to be made, owing to the fact that- there is no accommodation for the nurses' at the Kiosk. Only' women lave been cliosqn,. therefore, who were able to provide their own lodgings at first. Later arrangements will be inade to accommodate any country women whose services may be. required. The Oriental Bay Kiosk, is intended for convalescent men, ana at present it is impossible to iSay how 'many patients the Kiosk will be required to accommodate. Many of the men need some hospital treatment to begin with, but as they improve they will come under the care of the members of ; the Volunteer Sisterhood, all ,of whom of course work under the direction of the matron and staff-sisters, l'he women.for afternoon duty have hot yet been arranged. The secretary is" preparing'a stand-by list of women .ready for immediate service if called epon. ;. '
