MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) presiding. The other councillors present were: Councillors Stone, H. Hawthorne, M. Trace}', W. H. Green, and J. Pollock. A letter" was received from the City Treasurer, enclosing an account for the borough's proportion of the maintenance of liutt lload, amounting to £135 15s. 6d.—lt wns resolved that tho borough's share be paid.

•A request was received from tho Miramar Golf Club, seeking a reduction of the/rates on the club ground on account, among other things, .of a serious depletion in the club's membership consequent upon a number of, their members having gone to tho front, and pointing out also the fact that 'the golf links would, benefit the borough by making Miramar the principal golfing centre of tho province.—-It was decided to hold tho matter over until next meeting.

A resolution was passed approving the establishment of an overdraft on tho Bank of New Zealand amounting to £6000.

'The engineer reported that the repairs to the Karaka Bay ,Road had proved satisfactory, tho , cost to dato being £103. Twenty-four chains of roadway had been completed.
