PAPERS FOR INVALID TROOPERS

(To the Editor.) , Sir,—l-visited the Trentham Camp on Friday last, and the only, wish, expressed by the cheery 1 invalids in; the grandstand was for somo daily papers. Such a desire could not fail to' moyo to sympathy one whoso daily task is to assist in. the. production of a newspaper, 1 and I'.therefore 'yenturo'.to'.ask if 'you. will. kindly get your publisher to send twelve copies of The Dominion daily to the Trentham Hospital until the sovereicn enclosed lias been exhausted. I am making a similar/request to earih of' your, contemporaries. : ' : v 'r ' ! ; Mv reason for referring thus publicly to | the matter is the hope 'that some of tho citizens of;. Wellington who have shown such a kindly -interest in the wel-. faro of "Our Boys", will, now that.'their attention has been drawn to the want, supplement the small effort I am ablo to make ! I know that tho nowspaper proprietors of New Zealand liayo been Very generous in supplying papers to the troops, and I do not think it would be fair to ask them to do more. ■ May I add that I much impressod with the immense improvement which Colonel Valintine, had effected'.in .the treatment' and.accommodation of the invalids during" the short time he has been in charge..: But above , all, one could :not help admiring the splendid pluck and cheerfulness of the patients. Most of us when ill, even in the comfortable surroundings of home, are 'apt to bo grumpy and'downhearted, and all of us in this respect might leam a lesson from the boys at Trentham. They are emphatically, "th'o right stuff."—l, am, etc., . . W. 11. TBIGGS. Cliristcliurch," July ,9.
