/As an experienced ironmaster, Mr. 0. M. Luke, the president of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commeice, was asked, at a meeting of the Chamber yesterday afternoon to.express his view's on the question of the making of munitions of war in New Zealand. Mr. Luke replied that he would not care to otter an opinion until certain data which was. being collected had become available for perusal. He added that he .recognised there were difficulties as to tlia class of machinery, as to material, and ns to labour. He would'have somei hesitation in saying whether we had the necessary skilled labour, It had been proved, however, that our skilled . wo *fc" ers were second to no mechanics in tne world. ' PAPUA TOURS. Messrs. Burns .Philp and Company, tour and travel agents, have arranged another special Papua and es-Gerinan possessions tour,.to follow the recent fixture by the Morinda. The four will leave ■Sydney on September 1, the itinerary ineluding the usual Queensland ports and at least five Papuan ports and Raba.nl. At Cairns, en routs, the passengers will visit the Barron Falls and Gorge, whil« the capital of the sister State will be twice called at, and opportunity given of seeing the principal places and objects of interest there.
