It is reported from Constantinople that when the Russian Fleet recently shelled the railway line near Beikos (in the Bosphorus), the Goeben was removed from the repairing yard and anchored between Beikos and St. Enia. Her fire was directed by wireless. She soon began <to leak badly and returned to her berth. Owing to the absence of docking facilities the, vessel is unlikely to be of any real utility in a sea fight. The Russian destroyers' recent attack on the Breslau caused 162 casualties on hoard. While the Goeben was lying at the repairing berth a Russian submarine attempted to torpedo her. The projectile was deflected by the current, and blew up a vessel which was lying alongside the Goeben.
