FINANCE AND OTHER MATTERS £50,000 PAID TO THE TRUSTEES. Mr. James M'lntosh, treasurer to tlie Wellington Patriotic Society, reported yesterday tliat he had during the day paid in the sum of £50,000 to the Wounded Soldiers' and Sailors' Fund at the bank, and had notified the provisional trustees (Hon. J. G.W. Aitken and Mr. J. P. Luke) accordingly. Mr. M'lntosh states that the money continues to come in freely from a variety of sources, including the house receipts for the Coronation ceremony and the sale of tho "Queen" doll. COMBINED SCHOOLS' CONCERT. This'evening at the Town Hall a great choir of scliool children, representing the combined schools of Wellington and suburbs, will give the first of two concerts under the auspices of the New Zealand Patriotic Society's Queen Carnival. The young choristers have been diligently training for the occasion, and the concerts, which will be -under the direction of Sir. Robert Parker, should provide a great treat for the Wellington public The programme, which is advertised to-day, is as befits the occasion and the time of a patriotic charactor, and consists of a number of rousing national airs. The schools will have tne assistance of Miss Phoebe Parsons, A.R.C.M., and Mr. John Prouse as principal soloists, with Mr. Norman Collie, Mus. Bach., at the grand organ. FOR THE SICK SOLDIERS. It has been suggested that another special performance of the Coronation ceremony might be arranged' for some evening next week to raise funds with which to purchase comforts for the sick soldiers in camp and the various other places where they are .located. It is stated that many heme comforts and good food (not included in the camp dietary scale) might be supplied to the ailing men if there was a fund to bo operated npon for the purpose'. The Carnival money is ear-marked for wounded soldiers and sailors and their dependents, so that tho performance, if given, must he an extra )ne. The executive have not considered tlie matter so far, hut it has been suggested that those taking part in tho function would be only too glad to assist in procuring funds for such a thoughtful and worthy object. RAFFLES DRAWN AND TO BE DRAWN. The next hatch of Carnival raffles will bs drawn at tho, Willis Street .depot of the Patriotic Society to-morrow (Friday) evening.; The members of the Executive Committee havo been besieged with inquiries as. to where goods won in tho raffles recently drawn are to be obtained. The location of such goods can be obtained from the secretaries of the various committees concerned. In the case of the raffles promoted by the executive, Mr. Brownrigg (of Thompson and East) is the authority to be consulted.
