The Premier (Mr. Holmau), in a statement made at tho request of 'the .Natives' Association, .■ statej that Ausralia, to make'an 'effort proportionate to that of England and France, should be sending 400,000 men. "A further effort to increase tho scale of our contribution is essential if we are to do our share in bringing the war to a victorious conclusion." Mr. Holm,m announced that, in future iio'Government Departmental orders would be given to Australian firms whoso capital was mostly subscribed by Germans.
