ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL

The usual meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held on Thursday. There were present the Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump), and. Councillors J, C. Gardner, L. A. Browne, H. Brenton Rule, J. M. Dale, A. E. Budd, and W. Appleton. The district fund accounts amounting to £386 4s. Bd. were passed for payment. Included in this amount was £25, a fee for professional services rendered by Mr. J. E. Fulton in respect to the water report. The council decided to support the Petone Borough Council in its protest against the loss-of rates on Crown lands. The Mayor, Councillor Bowen, and Councillor Budd were appointed to attend the conference proposed to be held. It was decided, on the motion of Councillor Smith, to inform the Karori Borough Council that it agreed with its resolution protesting against the continual rise m the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid expenditure, and that the council would be pleased to co-operate in any movement that may be initiated to obtain relief. It was decided that in the interests of the borough a sanitation committee report to the council upon a suitable sanitary service for the borough. On the motion of Councillor Budd it was resolved that all .documents received by any past or the present council shall be available for any councillor's inspection. It was resolved that the member of Parliament for the district be written to, requesting him to use his utmost endeavours to secure the installation of a public slot telephone at Ngaio; that the General Manager for Railways be written to askim; that a train leave Wellington far Johnsonville at about 1 p.m. on Sundays, returning from Johnsonville'about- 2 p .m. The Khanda-llah Literary and Debating Society was given free use of the Khanrlallnh Public Hall for any assembly for patriotic purposes. On the recommendation of the public works committee the engineer's report on the storing of dangerous goods was adopted. . At the request of the Inspector of Noxious Weeds it was decided to declare the borgugh a noxious weed area under tho k&,. The tender of J. Hill was accepted for the removal of refuse from the borough.
