WELLINGTON HOSPITAL

MONTHLY MEETING OF THE BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held on Thursday. There were present: Mr. H. Baldwin (chairman), Dr. Elizabeth Platts-Mills, Mesdames D. M'Laren, T. M. Wilford, and A. M'Vicar, Revs. Dr. J. K. Elliott, and H. Van Staveren, and Messrs. F. Castle, D. Campbell, H. Freeman, W. Galloway, F. T. Moore, C. M. Luke, G. Nash, J. Smith, D. Robertson, and W. J. Thompson. Letters were received from the Karori and Petone Borough Councils protesting against the system by which the councils' shares of Hospital expenditure were levied. It was resolved to reply that the Government was responsible for the position created, and that the Government was the proper body to' make any representations to. The Hospital Committee recommended, and it was agreed: "That the board agree to pay one-half the cost of the repairs to the Hospital Road (up to £20) to the Home for Aged Needy." It was decided that the board should co-operate with the Dental Association and the Education Board in connection with an inspection at one of the public Schools, with a view to furnishing a report on the condition of tho children's teeth. A list of requirements for the Nurses' Home for articles at an estimated cost of £184 was approved. [ On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was decided that the architect. Mr. F. de J. Clere, be instructed to invite tenders for tlio proposed garage and additions to the Hospital stores and the ward for sick nurses. That the sum of £051 (trust funds), on deposit with the Lower Hutt Borough Council, bo re-dopositod for a further period of one year at 5 per ccnt. interest. It was reported that the Inspection Committee (the chairman of the board, chairmen of tho Hospital and Charitablo Aid Committees) paid a visit of inspection to the stores on Friday, May 28. Mr. W. J. Thompson accompaniod tho committee. A further meeting of the committee will bo held before any report is framed. It was decided that this Inspection Committee, with the treasurer,_ bo an advisory committoe, to deal with any matters requiring immediate attention.
