WHAT OUR READERS THINK
, WHAT THE BANKS ARE DOINC? (To tho Editor.) Sir, —I thank you for publishing my last letter on this matter. 1 also liiank you for the footnote attached ■ thereto, in which you state—correctly, I, believe—what tho Bunk of New Zealand is really doing for its servants. ; I admit frankly that I did not dis- • criminate between the man who vohin--1 teers and waits his turn and tlie man who decides to respond to the call at once. lam pleased to acknowledge that the Bank of New Zealand is treating the former generously, and in view of my former letter it is right that I should do so. It is unfortunate that the man who reads the call as "urgent" should not participate in tlie same generous treatment. He has chosen to resign, and the choice is his own entirely, but it does seem rather hard that his prompt response should cut him off from tho privileges, granted to those whose services cannot bo available to the country till a later date. lam pleased to recognise that the Bank of New Zealand is treating its men so generously, and regret I efoould havo questioned its action. I feel it is only fair to ask you to givo this the same publicity as you granted my former letter.—l am, etc., CUM DIV. June 2, 1915.
