ATTEMPT TO TURN THE NEW ZEALANDERS TURKS HEAVILY BEATEN (Rec. Juno 4, 0.30 a.m.) Athens, June 3. •Reports from Mitylene state that tho troops which landed on the peninsula played an important part in repulsing the Turkish attacks. Several Turkish companies attempted a turning movement against two Now Zealand regiments, but failed owing to the violent fire of the British ships. Tho Turks lost heavily, and a smnll party of survivors surrendered. The "Hestia" states that tho Germans, with revolvers in their hands, drovo tho Turks forward, their niasstd attacks resulting in enormous losses. German officers also lost heavily. A wounded prisoner describes the fire of the Allies' warships as the "Fire of Hell." IMPORTANT HEIGHTS CLEARED. (Rec. June 4, 0.30 a.m.) London, Juno 3.
