THE MEN LEFT BEHIND.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —May I be allowed a few lines on behalf of the so-called shirkers? One cannot get away from the fact that at the first call to arms numbers of young men enlisted on the impulse of the moment. The majority of those left behind are the less impulsive, but with a keen sense of duty to their own country (some are. doing the work of two men), 'and should things come to tho worst, these so-called shirkers won'thesitate to take their part; and fill ud the ranks.—l am, etc., A BRITISH GIRL.
