The Union Company advise that the Marama should reach port at about- 2 p.m. to-day from fia-n Francisco, via Papeete and Rarotonga, She has on board about 1700 tons of general cargo, after discharging which she leaves for Sydney direct, on Friday at 5 p.m., taking the usual run from Wellington of the intercolonial steamer. lONIC REPORTED. Cabled advice has been received by the vShaw-Sa-vill Compa.uy that the lonic, which left here on April 22 for London, left Elo on May 18 in continuation of her voyage. REPORTED LOSS OP SOUTH I'AOIFIO. News has been received in Sydney that the steamer South Pacific, which was recently reported to have, loaded at Kew York for Australian port 3 on behalf of the A. aud A. Line, was lost whilst bound from tho United Kingdom to the American port. No particulars have been received .vet, excepting that- the vessel is suppose! to have been lost off Arrau, on the coast of Scotland. The message made no mention as to how the crew fared. The Bouth. Pacific, owned by the Pacific Shipping Limited, Sunderland, was recently sold to Brltish buyers for about £62,000. She was a vessel of 3661 tons gross, having a. carrying capacity of 6750 tons dead weight, and was a comparatively new vessel, having been built in 1913 by Messrß. J. Dickinson and Sons, of tiunderland.
SOMERSET LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Advice has been, received by the local agents of the F. and S. Line that the steamer Somerset left Liverpool on Tuesday for Wellington, via, Auckland. She should arrive here about July 12.
THE INDRABAKAH. The In&rabarah was due in Melbourne from London either yesterday or to-day. •She should arrive in Wellington in about three weeks' time MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain J. Maylin has taken command of the Kennedy in place of Captain Hun-tcr-Purviß, who has uome achore 011 tick leave. Captain Da-vey, late of the Karaona, has taken charge of the Taviuni in place of Captain Dryden. who has joined the War hine as extra chief officer.
Mr. L. Dawson has signed on the Kaiapoi as second engineer, vice Sir. R. Mentiplay, -who has come ashore for orders.
Captain C. F. Post, of the Government steamer Tutanekai, arrived here by the Wahine from the south yesterday. Captain M'Donald', of the Aparima, woe also a passenger from the south, having come to Wellington to regain his vessel.
Tho Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria is delayed by wet weather at Lyttelton, and will not leave Wellington until about midday to-morrow (one day late) for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland.
The Huddart-Parker Company's Wimmera, which left Lyttelton on Monday for Melbourne, shipped a large- cargo of general freight. The vessel also carried a good number of which will be considerably supplemented on arrival at Bluff by the embarkation of tho Williamson Opera Company.
The Kennedy is due from Terakohe today with a. cargo of 100 tons of cement.
The Reg'ulus 15 due from Nelson to-mor- ; row, and after discharge on the slip for overhaul. She sails on Tuesday for Nelson and Coast.
The Waimca, is due from Greymouth on Saturday, with a load of coal.
The Corinna should arrive from New Plymouth this morning with a cargo of 6500 crates of cheese lor transhipment. The Karori left for Westport. last night and should return about the end of the week.
The Ngatoro. which arrived here on Tuesday from Napier, goes on the Slip today for overhaul. It is expected that she will be off the Slip in time to sail on Friday, for Greymouth.
The Buapehu left Wellington for Lyttelton and Dunedin yesterday to complete discharge and continue Homeward loading. She afterwards proceeds to Waitam to lift a part cargo, returning to Wellington, when she finally departs on May 29 for London. *
The Union Company's Flora, which was advertised to sail from Lyttelton on Friday for Wellington, New Plymouth, Westport, and Groyniouth, has been delayed, and the vessel "will now arrive at Lyttelton on Saturday morning from Timaru, and will sail iu the evening for Wellington. She is due here from southern ports on Sunday, and is fixed to sail for New Plymouth and. West Coast on Monday. Cable advico received by the Union Company states that the B.M.S. Makura. which is due at Auckland on Sunday, May 30, from Vancouver and way ports, has 91 passengers in all classes on hoard for all ports. She is also bringing SCO tons of cargo for New Zealand. The Makura sails for Sj'dncy on Monday, May 31. The Rangatira., from St. John and Australian ports, was expected to leave Sydney yesterday for Auckland and other New Zealand ports. She is flue there about May 24, and has ICCO tons of Canadian mer- ! chandise to discharco.
Another cargo of oil spirits, ctc., is on the way to Australia from New Orleans, states a. Sydney shipping journal. It is being carricd by the Artemis, a new vesfel specially constructed to the order of the British Imperial Oil Company. and of a new type to Australia as far as that firm is concerned. She is of the motor class, of large tonnage, and hesides being of Typrh speed, is a big cargo carrier.
