PREMIERS CONFERENCE
AUSTRALIA'S STRATEGIC RAILWAY. (Reo. May 10, 10.50 p.m.) Sydney, May 10. The Premiers' Conference has dis- £ cussed various steps in connection with _ tho proposed strategic railway, and resolved : "That while recognising its importj anco, and while anxious to help tho Commonwealth in the matter, it is desired to avoid tho unprofitable duplication of existing lines, and therefore, g that the best intorests of all would bo served by an immediate conference between the Railway Commissioners and the military authorities, to report sub- ■ . sequently to the Commonwealth and I State Governments.
