THE NATIVE TRAGEDY AT TURKEY CREEK
AN ABORIGINAL COMMITTED FOB TRIAL. Perth, April 28. In connection with the Turkey Creek' tragedy an aboriginal named Hipper has been committed for trial on a charge of murder! Eight, natives were killed at Turkey Creek, in' tlie Kimborley district. 'When # party consisting of. the Resident Magistrate, members of the jury, police, and black trackers, were returning from the scene of -the murders, the police came upon an alleged murderer, , Joe Wynn, a native, in the act of shooting a dog. They gave chase to the native tvho was mounted and anned with a Winchester rifle. He set off at a gallop towards a. high rugged range over extremely rough and stony country, and i tt-as overtaken at Telegraph , Creek, about one and a half miles to the north-east. Ho was called upon to surrender, but he made desperate efforts to escape. The police fired, as he , was regarded as a dangerous criminal, and Ve .was shot dead. ' '
