EXPEDITIONARY FORCE DEATH

He Defence authorities have' been notified-that No. 2/380, Gunner William Harcoe Harvey, No. 1 Battery, New Zealand Field Artillery, Main Body, New Zealand Expeditionary Foroe, died on April 16 of phthisis. His next of. kin is his father, Mr. Henry P.' Harvey, No. 38 Warden Street, Opono, Dunedin.

At a recent meeting of the Petone No. 2 Building Society an appropriation of loan by ballot was held. Mr. J. Coulter was the successful jnember, but upon his deciding to forgo,' another ballot was taken, the number of Mr. LI R. H. Aplin tof Carterton) being drawn. As Mr. Aplin holds three shares, he is thus entitled to £450 freo of interest.

Mr. Beaumont Smith, the theatrical manager, is at present indisposed in Wollington. He will probably have to undergo a minor operation this week.
