THE STATIONARY HOSPITAL
OFFICERS APPOINTED. The following officer have been appointed to the staff of the 1 Stationary Hospital which the New Zealand Government is about to'establish, at the front:— Lieutenant-Colonel D. J. M'Gavin, F.R.C.5.,. England, and M.D., London. Major H1 T. D. Acland. F.R.C.S., England. Major D. S. Wylie, F.R.C.S., England. Captain J. P. D, Leahy, 8.A., M.8., M.S.,- Sydney University. Captain L. Fraser Hurst, M.D., Durham. Captain T. D. M Stout,. F.R.C.S., England. Captain E. L. Marchant, eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist. Quartermaster, Lieutenant D. N. Isaacs, dentist. .. .
PERSONAL NOTES. ' Lieutenant-Colonel M'Gavin, who has been appointed to command, is at present Acting-Principal Medical Officer of the. 'Wellington Military District. He has served with the New Zealand Defence Forces for many years, having been promoted Major on November 7, 1906; He saw service in the South African War, during which he! was attached to a medics! hospital. Major Acland is a well-known eurgeon in Christcliurch. He 6aw service in the South African War, and has been connected with the New Zealand Territorial Forces for over two years. Major D. S. Wylie, who until recently has been practising in New Plymouth, also saw service in South Africa, being attached to a hospital. He has been identified with the New Zealand Territorial Service since 1911. Captain Leahy is a well-known surgeon in Napier, and has served with ths New Zealand Territorial Forces since 1906. Captain Hurst served with the China Expeditionary Force in 1900 and in the South African War, 1902. He has been captain of the 4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles since 1904, and has carried out medical duties for the regiment at the same time. ,' , ~j Captain Stout, of Wellington, did good servico for eight months.with the Advance Guard of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force at Samoa. - Captain Marchant is a' well-known specialist in Wellington, and has been an active member of the Territorial Forces, being attached to the Garrison Artillery for about a year. Lieutenant Isaacs is a well-known dentist of Wellington, and went as a dental surgeon with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force to Samoa, proving himself a most efficient officer.
