MIRAMAR. The elections at Miramar proceeded quietly all day yesterday, and although there were nine candidates for tho six seats on tho council not much interest lvas displayed. Mr. F. LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED. , Considerable interest was evinced by residents of Eastbourne in yesterday's poll, and ! in addition to 'electing members to the' council they were asked to decide on a loan. The loan proposal, which was carried by a majority of 150 votes, is for the purpose of providing a water supply tor the borough. The sum proposed to 'be borrowed is £12,500. : In the election for the council there were twelve candidates for eight vacancies. Mr. W. Perry headed the poll with 346 votes,' while as there was a tie for the eighth seat between Messrs. Cook and Morris, a recount has been rendered necessary. This will take place under the direction of the returning officer (Mr. J. D. Avery) today. It is remarkable that there was a tie for the eighth place on the council at the previous, election.
