BOUNDARIES COMMISSION

FOR EDUCATION DISTRICTS. Under the Education Amendment Act of last year it is provided- that the number of education districts in the Dominion shall be reduced. This has involved the elimination of certain of the smaller districts, and oonsequent alteration of boundaries. As the House could not apjree upon, boundaries the Act provides that these shall be fixed by a Royal Commission, to report to the House on June 30 next. 1 This Commission held ita first meeting yesterday. It was decided that sittings for the taking of evidence shall be open to the Press. The Commission leaves for the south to-night to sit for the hearing of evidence at Invercargill on Friday morning.
