On the Hastings tracks this morning Sauci and Chortle went ten furlongß in 2min. 16sec., the last round in lmin. oljsec., both finishing well. Ventura and Allen Doone went a nilo on the plough in lmin. 45sec., Ventura finishing in front. Eligible and Dribble galloped five furlongs in lmin. 6fsec. Multiply went once ifound in lmin. 49sec., Bonny Dream did four furlongs in oleec.j and Dinner Gong the same distance in oljseo. Indigo covered the last five of six furlongs in lmin. sseo. Balboa and Oroesus went five furlongs in lmin. 6sec. Desert Gold covered four furlongs in 49 4-ssec., Downham 'sis furlongs in lmin. 18sec., and Bon Reve and fted Book galloped seven furlongs, the last six in lmin. 21sec.
BOOKMAKER FINED. (By Telesraph—Pre69 Association J Auoklind, April 27. John Weston was fined £100 and costs for bookmaking in <an hotel. EXCESSIVE USE OF THE SPUR, JOCKEY FINED IN SYDNEY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) Sydney, April 27. A case of interest to sportsmen occurred after the Hurdle Race at Tattersall's Meeting. The stewards fined the trainer and jockey of Fluteplayer for excessive uso of spurs, To-aay in the Police Court, the trainer, Forbes, was charged with causing Fluteplayer to he illtreated, and the jockey, Moon, with illtreating the horse, The charge against Forbes was withdrawn, the only allegation against him being ' that he did not allow the jockey to use dummy spurs. Moon was fined 10s. He stated that the trainer instructed him to use the spurs, as Flateplayer was unreliable, roguish, and lazy, and would have stopped otherwise.
