PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE FOR WELLINGTON
GENEROUS DONATIONS PROMISED A proposal is on foot to establish a boarding and high school under tho auspi6es of the Presbyterian Church in the district of Wellington. oSome time ago Dr. Gibb brought this question before the Wellington Presbytery when a committee was appointed to look into the matter and Teport. At the last meeting of the Presbytery Dr." Gibb intimated that a gift of £1000 ■ had been definitely promised for the work, also that a promise had been received of another large sum. The Presbytery, expressed its gratification, and instructed the committee to continue the Work with a view to the establishment of a college at an early date. The committee is now considering the question of a site and also whether it may not be more expedient to institute a college for boys than for girls. Already there are three flourishing ladies' colleges in connection with the church— lona College, Haveloclc North, Columbia College, Dunedin, and a college in Auckland which has not yet received a definito name. These institutions have already reached a high level of success and there is a feeling that perhaps the way is more open for a boys' collegc here than a girls'. The question will be decided shortly, and in any ease preparations aro going steadily forward.
