AN ARMY APPOINTMENT
MAJOR-GENERAL SIR PERCXi GIROUARD. ; ' London; April 22. Colonel Sir Percy Giroaud, R.E., has resigned from tlie board of tho Arm-stroug-Whitworth Company. -Ho has been appointed a major-general. [Sir Percy Girouard, who was born in Canada, was educated at the Royal Military College at Kingston, and entered the army in 1888. Ho saw service in tho Sudan, and later became in turn Director of the Sudan Railways, and President of the Egyptian Railway Board. From 1902 to 1904 he was Commissioner of Railways in tho Transanal and Orange River Colony, and Director, of Railways of South Africa. Later ho Leld a command in England, . and afterwards acted as Governor of Northern Nigeria, and Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the East' Africa Protectorate.]
