PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA
• The Wellington Professional Orchestra, which lias been hibornating during tho summer, is to awaken on Sunday evening next at His Majesty's Theatre, when it. will give its first- concert of tho season. Owing to the illness of Mr. Bloy during the past threo weeks tho orchestra has been deprived of his services, but have rehearsed under the baton of Mr. H. Moschini. A novelty will he tho performance for the first time in Wellington of a fantasia of Verdi's "Othello," in which tho basic themo is, of course, Shakespeare's tragedy of the samo • name. Beyond au occasional fragment even tho musical public know little of the masterpiece of Verdi's ripe genius, and a fantasia on the work should at least give impressions. Friedemann's "Slavonic Eliapsodie" is also a composition of lofty ideals, which is not very welt known here. As an olf-set to these pieces, tho programme includes three of Gorman's "Nell Gwynn" dances, Klgar's great march, "Pomp and Circumstance," and the "Barcarolle" from "The Tales of Hoffmann."
