COLONIAL INSTITUTE LUNCHEON
London, April 21. Earl Grey presided at the Royal Colonial Institute's luncheon to Mr. F. ,W. Young, the new Agent-General for South Australia. Sir George. Roid (High Commissioner for Australia), tho 'Agents-General for the Australian States, Sir Robert Nivison, Mr. J. C. Jenkins (an ex-Agent-General for South Australia), and many business men and bankers were present.
Mr. Young said that tlio War Fund of Australia was in an exceedingly strong financial position—over forty millions in gold. Australia Xarl been able, despite a drought and t.!ie disturbance in the w-001, lead, and zinc markets, to continue the normal development of her resources. Australia's exportation of primary products made her position easier than that of British manufacturers, who would have to fight a li.ittl'i of commerce in the world's disloca'/>d qinrkets long after peace had we. fie welcomed Mr. Lewis Harnmrt's promise to consult tho Dop'in'"ns regarding the terms of peace.
