THE BUSINESS SIDE OF WAR
BRITISH ORGANISATION CRITICISED "TIMES" ON LORD KITCHENER (Rec. April 9, 5.45 p.m.) London, April 8. The "Times," in a leading article commenting ou the appointment by Lord Kitchener of a .Munitions Committee,, presided over by Mr. George Booth, asks: "Are we really going the right way to work? After eight months of war we are nowhere near attaining the efficiency of the French industrial organisation. For our failures and shortcomings the Government, individually and collectively, is more, blameworthy than the workmen. "The Government has wastedvaluable months in inadequate measures, and a muddled pretence at organisation. Even Lord Kitchener must bear a share of the responsibility for this lack of .preparedness. He has done great things, but he cannot expect to create huge armies and also control the greatest business in the world "We can only supply shells and ships by a fuller and more comprehensive organisation for the settlement of these industrial difficulties."—"Times" and Sydney "Sun" services.
