CHINESE SPORTS
A picnic by the Chinese and teachers of tho Chinese Mission, Frederick Street, was held in Wonderland Park, Miramar, yesterday. Provisions, including dainties specially prepared for the Chinese taste were plcnteously provided, after a programme of sports was carried out. The tug-of-war, also the football match, proved the greatest attractions. There wero several children's, races, the winners being rewarded with suitable prizes, presented byMe«srs. Pearson and Joy, also Miss.es Evans ,and Schwartz. 'Jlie winners of the men's race were; Ye Choon 1 and Wong Hing Loung 2. The respective prizes for first and second were a silver medal with a gold centre, presented by Mr. T. H. Coltman, and a tray and paper-holder presented by Mr. ICwei Chili (Chinese Consul). This raco was very evenly contested throughout. The winners of the sack race were F, Ltd Law, who received a prize of silver medal presented by Mr. Donald Gillies, and Che Kai, who received a safety razor-present®! by Messrs. George and George. For the bicycle race there were many competitors, Ye Choon being first and Ting Chung second. The first prize was a silver medal with gold centre presented by Mr. W. N. Tucker, and tho second a tray and paper-holder presented by Mr. Kwei Chili. For tho women's race', Miss Tandy was the winner, with Miss Jones second. The respective prizes were a sweets dish, presonted by Messrs. Veitch and Allan, and a card case presented by Mr. Kwei Chih. A splendid display of fireworks was provided by Mr. Wong Tong, and a most enjoyabie outing under the ideal conditions was greatly appreciated.
