N.Z. TROOPS' SEVERE TRAINING

FINANCE AND WAR EXPENDITURE. • (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedln. April 3. The Hon. Jamos Allen (Minister of Defence) stated to a reporter that the latest reports showed that the training of tho Expeditionary Force had been very severe, but they had stood up to it with .excellent spirit and keenness. There was certainly nothing to fear as regards comparisons. As to the'probabilities of important service in the near future, it was neccssavy to obseryo perfect secrecy. Regarding Dominion finance for tho year ended March, it was probable that tho receipts and expenditure would show an even balance. If that resulted it would be satisfactory, considering the decline in the Customs revenue. The Dominion's war expendiI ture was averaging approximately £300,000 monthly.
