THE ROSS MINE
THE TJNWATERING PROCESS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association .5 Hokltlka, March 14. The unwatering of the Ross Mine is still proceeding satisfactorily, despite the unprecedented rainfall during the pumping operations. Mr. G. Davis (chairman of directors) visited tho mine last week. He gave an emphatio denial to statements that had. been made to tho effect that the workings would not be again unwatered. Mr. Davis eaid the prospects were very bright when the mine was flooded. The east drive from the intermediate workings on the Rosb United lead, which was being advanced towards Jones Creek, had just got under the Cacrius workings. Samples taken were averaging fetter, and there was every indication of the pay-wash mak-, ing as the drive advanced end comes more in line with the head. The chairman mentioned that blocking operations had been proceeding 'Bteadily in the pay-wash at the time of tne interruption and the fact that the last wash-up averaged nearly ss. per trucE showed that the grade of material then being worked had considerably improved. Mr. Davis is very sanguine that good returns will be obtained as soon as the unwatering of the mine is completed.
