_ Sydney, March 11. The Labour caucus has discussed the grievance leading up to Mr. Carmichael's Resignation from the Ministry. It is understood that Mr. Carmichael stuck to ihsis guns, and that Mr. Holm an maintained his right to determine Ministers' turder of precedence. Mr. Holman stated generally at the ( §\? CUS bought Mr. Carmichael wild wrong in precipitating a crisis. : Mr. Carmichael rejected all entreaties reconsider his position. - It is understood that Mr. Holman suid Mr. Carmichael differed 1 on the c[uestion as to whether Mr. Hall (Attor"W'General) was entitled to higher Cabinet Tank than Mr. Carmichael, the laitter contending that in the event of too absence of Mr. Holman Mr. Cann (o : hief Secretary) should be entitled, ow-l-ni? to his length of service, to be Act-ing-Premier. " Mr. Holman declined to ailter the Ministerial precedence already fixed.
! The caucus adjourned to enable Mr.. Holman and Mr. Carmichael to adjust tmeir differences and.allow Mr. Carmichael to re-enter the Ministry, but a consultation proved unsuccessful. ; There were seven candidates for the vacancy. The ballot between Mr. Cfrahgme and Mr. Burgess is incomplete. Tito votes have not been recorded. It. is , believed that Mr. Grahame leads byi one vote. (Rec. March 11, 8.35 p.m.) Sydney, March 11. The final vote gives Mr. Grahame a majority of one.
