MASTERTON NOTES
A very fine rain has fallen 'in this district during the, last twenty-four hours. Over an inch has- been registeied in Masterton. There are indications of the rain continuing. _ Farmers are naturally jubilant, as rain at tliis period means everything to them. Arrangements are being made to hold a motor and cycle gymkhana in Mastertoji in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund.
Twenty-seven trucks of steep and cattle were dispatched by Messrs. W. and 6. Tumbull and Co.' this week to Hangatiki, in the Waikato district. ' The Government labour agent reports that the local labour market is normal.
Two motor-cars collided on the road leading to Lansdowne at'a late hour on Wednesday night. 'Both were considerably damaged, but the occupants ■ escaped injury. In a match played:, at Hastings on Wednesday the Wairarapa polo '■ team was"defeated by.Hawke's Bay by.eight gcals to one. •. • ;
