NATIONAL RESERVE
'A! well-attended meeting' was heWioil Wednesday evening- in ' the' Taita Hall for the purpose of forming a local branch of the National Reserve. Mr. H. A. W.'M'Kenzie, who convened the ; meeting, occupied the chair. Mr. A. W. Newton, or tho Central Executive, was present and addressed the meeting at some length, being cheered on resuming his seat. -Twenty _of those present joined, and -a' committee, consisting of Messrs. H. A. W. M'Kenzie (chairman), Rachel, Percini, Phillip, and J. Stonehouse ■ (secretary), - -was elected.' Among those present were some Boer War veterans and Navaljßeserve. Mrs. W. Reynolds (piano), F* Ealcs, and the chairman contributed to the entertainment portion of tho proceedings. : j ISLAND BAT SECTION. The Island Bay-Berhampore section paraded on Tnesday and Wednesday in numbers which indicated that the en- ■ thusiasm for this movement is v as strong as the . organisers .could possibly expect. On Tuesday night'the roll showed that. 86 members were in attendance and on Wednesday 30 more. It is the intention of tho instructor, Mr. - Haslam, to give instruction' lectures . each Tuesday evening after parade. The intention of these lectures is to impart the necessary instruction which will enable men to qualify as officers of thf force. .
