BOOKMAKERS.
Sir,—While passing through' Willib Street and Lambton Quay every day I See the same old .crowd'of bookmakers standing outi.ide the hotel door's. wait ing for the poor weak fool who oomes along and gives them his money. We know it is illegal, but It goes on under the police officers' very noses, and no attempt is made to stop it. Now, as these men have loafed and lived on the public for years, don't you ' hink, if they had any manhood left in them at all, they would Volunteer to go to tho front, as they have never dono anything for the country that lceepp them, and again, they Would not be missed if they got shot on account of there uselessness? If you publish this wo will see if there is a mftft amongst the lot. —I am, etc., AN OBSERVER.,
