OLD LADY MISSING. fßy Telesraph—Pt©m AtooeifctJo®.! Foxton, February 2. A diligent search is being made by the police and others for an old lady, Mrs. J. Dixon, seventy-seven years ot age, aresident of Bunnythorpe, who had been spending a holiday at the local seaside. She went for a walk on Saturday morning in company with a little boy.' The boy returned after accompanying her for half a mile along the beach, and nothing further has . been heard of her. WATERSIDER KILLED. . Dunedin, February 2. Jose Jackson, a waterside worker from iiyttelton, felMown a hatchway on the steamer Waimana at Port Chalmers last night, and died from injuries this morning. He was aged 30 years and was married. ' RAILWAY CARPENTER KILLED. Auckland, February 2. When on top of. a new railway signalpost at Henderson on January A>■lames Porter, a railway carpenter, fell a "distance of 30ft., and received injuries which resulted fatally. A' J"® inquest to-day the evidence showed that one of the guy-ropes which held the derrick in position besides the post crossed a lino of rails, but did not allow sufficient clearance, and was cut by the top of a passing train. The derrick swung round, and dislodged lorter, who fell. The Coroner pointed out that the responsibility fell upon *be foreman, Harry Johnson, who had failed to ohl serve the regulations, which provided . that' a guy-rope shall allow clearance for passing trains, and that tiie sta- ' tionmaster be warned of /its presence.
