AN APPEAL

CONCERTS FOR THE MEN AT TRENTHAM. The Wellington branch of the New Zealand, Patriotic Society has promised to supply a concert party to provide an entertainment at the Trentnam camp once every month, and numerous offers from local artists, some of whom rank amongst the best talent in Wellingtonj have been received. To enable the committee to carry out this work they appeal to the public to provide a supply of motor-cars to convey the members of the concert party to Trentham and return to Wellington; this means that three cars will oe required each month, until the war is over. The committee are quite conscious of the fact that the pitizens of Wellington have most loyally to the many calls made upon them in connection with the present European crisis, nevertheless they feel sure that this appeal will not be made in vain. It is felt that the public will realise tho importance of these entertainments. They are intended to be a means of helping to break the monotony of camp life for tho men who will soon leavo their native shores to do their part on behalf of the Empire, and to assist in bringing to a speedy termination a war which we all so greatly deplore. Those desiring to assist in- providing amusement for the men at Trentham, and to ■assist in obviating the necessity for them to frequently journey to Wellington in search of diversion are requested, should they bo unable to provide cars, to kindly forward donations towards tho cost of hiring same. The first concert will bo held on February 3. _ Anyone desirous of responding to this appeal will kindly. communicate with Mr. Joseph Lewis, secretary of the New Zealand Patriotic Committee, 18 Grey Street, who will bo pleased to make acknowledgment through the Press, or othenvi.Bß.
