TURAKINA FROM LONDON. .. . After en. easy voyage of 45J days, tho Now'.Zealand Shipping Company's mail steamer Turakina. arrived in the stream at 6 o'clook last night from London, via Hobart. After the Port Health Officer had examined the passengers the liner berthed at tho King's Wharf shortly after 7 p.m. The Turakmfl. left London on Friday, October 2, at 2.45 p.m., and had just arrived at the mouth of tho English Channel when she was stopped by a email French gunboat. She pvbeeeded on her voyage after a short ' delny, and richt down to the Cape experienced very ccod weather. The weather continued favourable till the vessel. arrived at Hobart: nt 6 o'clock last Thursday. Tho Northern Company's coastal, steamer Olaymore, which ; was recently withdrawn, from tho West Coast trade, was removed to an anchorage in Auckland Harbour on Thursday afternoon. Tho Olaymore will lay' "up for an indeflnito period, 6tatos a northern paper. ' ."

The barquentine Sonorita was removed to an anchorage at Auckland on Friday, where she will remain for the present. The vessel woe to have loaded: a cars-oof timber for Australia, states the "Herald," but very little cargo of that description is offering at prosent. . , .

While a heavy traction engine was beinc hoisted on board tho Mauaia at Auckland on Friday, statce the "Herald," the rope Ml snapped. The engine fell heavily on to the wharf, tho only damage done being to tho front axle, which wae bent. The weijrht of tho engine wne stated at first 'to be fouT'and a half tons, but •it was aftenvards discovered that the approximate weight was abont nine tons.
