GERMAN JINGOES ON OCEAN ISLAND
TROOPS LANDED TO PROTECT THE BRITISH.' (Rec. November 16, 8.25 -p.m.) Sydney, November 16. A steamer from Ocean Island (in the Gilbert group) brings news that just before she left.troops were landed at the request of the British residents ;to keep the Germans in check. It is alleged that forty Germans, anfied with rifles, marched tnrougli'the islind, and threatened to shojt any who, interfered with their plans.
