RUGBY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. j Tho Management Committee of the l Wellington Rugby Union met last night. There were present: Messrs. E. 0. Halos (in the chair), D. D. Weir, A. E. Dawson, A. E. Wilson, W: Perry, 6. Howe, H. Buck, and W. Hornig. A letter was received from the New Zealand University Football Club stating, that it had just received a cablegram from Sydney to tho effect that the tour had been cancelled owing to the war, and asking the Wellington Union to cancel all arrangements made in connection therewith. "Our secretary has gone to the war or we should have notified you earlier," concluded the letter. It was decided to give effect to the request. A telegram was received from "Mr. E. M'Kenzio suggesting September 5 or .September 12, instead of September 1, for the junior representative match. —Decided to fix the date as September 5. Notification was received from itho Wellington Rugby Referees' Association to the effect that the annual mateh between Canterbury and Wellington referees had been cancelled owing to the inability, through the war, of the '°rmer to send a team.—Received. " ■ ' ' MID-WEEK MATCHES. The mid-week competitions under the management of the 'Wednesday Association, wore advanced another stage yesterday afternoon, when two games wero played at Karori Park. Pakeha. v. Rambler A. From the bully-off Pakeha broke away and carried play into Ramblers' circle. Spiers cleared, and Ramblers shifted play over the half-way line. Pakeha forwards, -taking .charge, soon had Ramblers on the defensive and Robinson finished up a forward rush by scoring. Play until the end of the spell was very oven. In the second spcl| Ramblers, playing with better combination, were petting all.tho bettor of the game, but poor shooting and off-side play in the circle lost them many chances of scoring. Tho game ended without any further score. Pakeha winning by I'goal to nil. Mr. J> C. Ousack was tho referee. Horeawa v. Ramblor B. Horeawa easily defeated Ramblers by 14 goals to 1. For tho winners, Kucli (4), Pullen, Caterer, and Schauer (2 each), Henderson, Ellison, Cole and Trilford (1 each) were the scorers, and Pearco (1). for the losers. • ' Mr. W. Cooper was roferce.
