' THE "WELLINGTON OLUB. Mr. W. Nidd (president) occupied tbe chair aftbe annual meeting of the Wellington Bowing Club last evening. Tbe ■29th annaul 'report. stated that eleven new members were elected during the year and seven resigned.- The club- had been represented at regattas held at Picton, Christchurch, and- Wellington, but had mot with veiy -little success owing mostly to the crews not being in tho best of condition. With tho excdption of ■ the youths'- crew, the membere had not taken-enough interest in their work. The total amount of prizemonoy won was £7. -'The committee hoped. that a new.' pleasure-boat -would bo added.to tho club's equipment,shortly, the order having been placed with Mr, G. Norton. Thanks to the proprietary of the King's Theatre, who gave the club .a benefit entertainment, tho cqminittoe were able, to givo trophies to .the .winners'-during' the. 1912-13 .season. Respecting, the. finances of the club, the; report said:—"The expenditure during the year (£ll7 19s. lid.) is the lowest for. 15 years,, but owing to tho small amount of receipts .(£l2O 195. : 6 d.), which is also the lowest I 'for 15: years, the committee could hot see its way clear to go in; for new plant. The falling-off is due-in a''great measure to.the' small active -membership,' lowregatta prize-money, and the danciimassembly being a failure.' The expenses of the club should not exceed £50 ayear, if there were; no' outstanding accounts, so ■ that' members .can see that' if some means can be devised for wiping off the liabilities, the club 'would be in a very prosperous condition. There has.been filed with Mr. Bowling, Clerk of the Awards at Auckland (says tho "Star"), an agreement entered into between the Poverty Bay and East Coast Sheep-owners' Union and the Gisborno and East Coast Shearers' and Woolshexl Employees' Union. 'The number of sheep ; to be shorn is. to be decided agreement before tho shearing, begins. The hours *re from five a.m. until five p.m. on five days of the week, and - four p.m. on Saturday. The men aro to get not less than £1 a hundred and rations for shearing with machines; 3s. per hundred increase where , .the shearers find themselves. Hogget rams are to be paid for at rate and a half, and-all other rams double rates.
