TAXATION PROPOSALS CRITICISED (By Telenaph—Preta AasoctatJoiu . - Hamilton, Julv 24. At a, meeting of the Waikato Automobile Association, the following resolution was- unanimously passed:—"That in the opinion of this association the scheme of. the present Bill is wrong in principle, and this association is of opinion that a uniform scale, of taxation should apply to all motor vehicles, and that the taxation so' realised should be subsidised from the general revenue of New Zealand to the extent of £ for £, and , that the Government should ob. tain a loan for each province, for which this taxation would pay the necessary interest and sinking fund, and that such loan money should , be exr/ended in each province by an expert body which would take over defined main ,The association thinks that the general revenue, should contribute', because tho improvement of all roads is to the general advantage, and that other vehicles damago toads as well as motors." ■
