COST OF LIVING
TRADES HALL CONFERENCE.
The conference of unions convened by .the Trades and Labour Council regarding the cost of living resumed it's session in the Trades Hall on Thursday night. Mr. p\ M'Kenzie presided, and there was a large attendance of delegates. The first order of business considered was. the establishment of co-operative societies. Members settled down to a practical discussion on the merits of the question and advanced strong arguments in favour of the workers of New Zealand, commencing. in both whqlesale and retail trades. Many speakers stated they had large experience in similar concerns in various parts of the world. At'tho hour' of adjournment the matter was still under discussion and it was decided to resume the meeting on Thursday, August 6. ■■ . It is expected that the Prime Minister will receive the deputation whioh will place before-him the necessity of giving effect to the findings of the Tβcent commission either to-day or MonI day. ,-' '; : :;.'■.-'
