MEETING - OF THE LOCAL CENTRE. A meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre „ was held .in the Wellington .Club's pavilion last evening. Mr. E. J. Hill presided. , In discussing the election' of the council, Mr. Underwood expressed himself as not altogether pleased with the work .of the last council. He. stated that nine out of evory ton who attended the Dominion tournament ■ were disappointed at the way . things went-. The council had rushed into a motliod- of bowl-testing that was not at all satisfactory, and they had bungled the question of tlio admittance of tlio composite bowls. He thought that the members of the council were excellent gentlemen socially, were not' in touch. with the game as th'ey should be, and that younger meii should be nominated. The following officers for the Dominion Bowling Association for the coming year wero nominated: —President, Mr. Maurice Oasoy; vice-president, tho ; Canterbury Centre's. nominee (whoever ho may bo); .treasurer, the Auckland Centre's nominee; council, Messrs. V. Dimock, S. 11. 'Underwood. E. J. Collins, T. Bush, and, 'A. Veitch.. The secrotary is elected by the council. On the' motion of Mr. F. Laurenson it 'was, decided to forward the_ following remit to the council:—"That" it be a request from tlio Wellington Bowling Centro. that the Dominion Association approve of the "Excellite" composite bowl being used at.all .tournaments held in Now Zealand."' Another remit submitted oil the motion of Mr. J.'-' J. Roberts was as fol-lbws:-M;'That this centre recommend the Council of the Dominion Association to rescind its decision re " tho Scott bowls .test, aB such decision was arrived at hurriedly and, apparently without, the adequate discussion that such a subject so momentous, t-o the welfare of bowling demands, and without a thorough consideration of the merits of the table test, which is considered by exports to be generally much more convenient, scientific, reliable, and desirable, than any other practicable bowl test,known ; and' that this centre requests,.the council of the association to obtain an expression of opinion from all . the centres on the subject of bowltesting, before' December 31, 1914, for the ■ purpos'e of - giving . the- council a real insight into the opinion of tho majority of players as to the relative-, merits of the two methods.'' . After considerable discussion -the mo- 1 tioii to forward 1 iho remit was carried by 12 to '2. ■ . -. - ; ■ The following' recommendation lapsed Jot want of a seconder:—"That it bo a recommendation, to the committee, that each club be requested to complete .its competition before March 5, clubs failing to'do so .to, forfeit their right to enter players for the centro. champion games." Mr. Underwood asked what the centre intended to.do with tho Flyger Shield. Tho secretary stated that, according to the rules, no centre or club should be allowed to play for any trophy in the-nature of: an advertisement, and he quoted the rule that supported tho contention. • ; - Members expressed surprise at the existence of' such a rulei .
